Behind the Art - Stixy

I’m Dominique, the surface pattern designer and illustrator behind Stixylin, based in Brisbane Australia. I enjoy creating vibrant and delightful patterns and illustrations full of colour and movement. I love adding extra energetic and lively details with pops of colour to my work, to evoke fun and joy into our everyday lives. My inspiration comes from nature, animals, and native botanicals. I love seeing my designs come to life on fabrics, clothing, stationary, home decor and accessories.

I often travel to races alone and being part of this wonderful community has given me so many smiles and happy memories. From being invited into the home of someone I had never met in person when I arrived in the state for a race only to be advised of a terrible accident back home, to having people to hi five in the finish chute and cheer me along the run at every race. It's a wonderful community to be part of and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Getting out of a jam

The club has been an amazing community to be part of, but no more so than when we were driving from QLD to Huskisson for the tri only to be told the night before we arrived that our accommodation was double booked so we haev no where stay. After a quick post on the group, Kim (who I had never met!) offered her campsite, tent, food and all. We had so much fun we booked side by side camp spots in Port Mac Ironman.

Lifelong friendships

From all the way over in the USA, I met a group of people who have become lifelong friends. We met up after being the small group of USA athletes, after some chatting on social media, we decided to go on a camping trip together. We did some sport, ate good food, and chatted the night away. We now travel all over the country and the world to race together. I would never have met these people who are now my closest friends without the club.

I thought the bag contents were very poor if living in NZ. Mine included a $100 wine delivery voucher that only wirks in Australia- when i mentioned it wasnt useful i was told i shouldn’t have received it (and nothing else fir NZ to replace it). I had two paurs of socks in mens large suzes which don’t fit me. And a visor. I expected more.

We have taken your feedback on board and made a big update to the kit this year to include a tech tee, run hat, water bottle and more. Not alot of gear for guys

Was hoping for more mens gear. Shorts with mobile pocket, larger running hats with promos for both guys and girls

We have Men's 2 in 1 shorts (with the phone pocket), Men's Tri Suits and run tees for specific LABCC gear all available for pre-order when you first sigend up. Then we have a full range of suits, shorts, tri shorts, run tees and singlets, as well as swimwear all available as general retail gear that you can use your club discount for.
We have new men's products coming in the new year in the run category as well.
Happy to chat more about specific items you were hoping for that we aren't currently offering, we're always open to ideas about an increased range.

Proud and grateful to represent!

I was an original Catfish wearer and fan and I was so excited to see the re-branding and new kit launch. I was even more excited to hear and then be selected in the ambassador program.
The kit is bright, edgy, light, durable and super comfortable and makes me feel awesome in it! I am excited for the year ahead training and racing and representing LAB!
