The Active Journey

For me, movement is about connecting with ourselves, with each other and with Country.

When I designed this artwork, I wanted it to capture the spirit of the LAB community and the way swimming, riding and running bring people together. The meeting places throughout the design represent the communities that support, encourage and lift us up, while the pathways remind us that everyone's journey is unique with no 2 paths looking the same.

You'll also find waterways, native leaves and golden wattle blooms woven through the artwork, celebrating the beautiful landscapes we move across every day. The wattle is a little nod to the LAB value of 'bloom where joy pulls you', reminding us that we all grow in our own way and in our own time.

The colours are inspired by Country too, from the blues of our coastline to the warm sandy yellows, rich red earth and the greens of the bush. I hope this artwork reminds people that every step, stroke and ride is about more than being active. It's about feeling connected, finding joy in the journey and knowing you're part of a community that has your back.
