Sophie Geraghty - mum, ultra runner, photographer, run coach, overall legend - competed in the UTA100k last year so we picked her brain to give all UTA100 competitors (some may be useful for UTA50 and UTA22 competitors too) some tips she wished she knew before smashing it out.
- Be prepared to wait and eat at Tarros Ladders/Duncan pass
- Enjoy iron Pot - Take a selfie
- Run your own race. Don't get sucked into the pace or mental space of someone else.
- Nellies is a MIND F*CK - get into the groove and just get to the top. It does end.
- Have the right gear for the conditions - it will be cold. Be prepared to slow down - keep warm!
Give Sophie a follow at @thedirtnapdiaries to see what other epic events she is doing in 2025 after tackling the UTA100 and Coast to Kosci in 2024.
